CELEBRATE BASTILLE DAY IN THE UK!

14th of July represents many things for French people: it's National Day (la fête nationale) and mostly everyone knows it commemorates the beginning of the French Revolution. It also symbolizes the end of absolutism, the advent of the Republic and the fight for freedom, equality and fraternity. In a nutshell, 14th July simbolizes the birth of France as we know it today, so no one would blame French people for making it big.

If you live in the UK, you may not be able to see the Military Parade of the fantastic fireworks at the Eiffel Tower (or taking palce everywhere in France), but you can still take part in the festivities. Here's where you'll be able to celebrate le 14 juillet in the UK in 2015:

London

- 10 July: Bastille Day party at the Roof Gardens, Kensington High Street

- 12 July: Bastille Festival in Borough Market, Southwark

- 14 July: Bastille Day 2015 with French Tuesdays at Home House London

Reading

- 11 and 12 July: Bastille Day Reading Festival in Forbury Gardens

Cambridge

Altrincham (greater Manchester)

- 11 July: Bastille evening event.

- 12 July: French Festival at Stamford Park in Hale

Caulcott (near Oxford)

- 11 and 12 July: Bastille Day Beer & Music Festival at the Horse and Groom
