EDINBURGH BOOK FESTIVAL ANNOUNCMENT

From the 15th to the 31st of August we'll be heading to Edinburgh to support some of our favourite French authors at the world-famous Edinburgh International Book Festival.
Keeping us company in the Scottish city of culture will be:

Cedric Villani
Cédric Villani will talk about his gift for maths and how it can be beautiful and magical at the same time. In 2010 he received the prestigious 'medaille Fields' award for his work and will take you through his discoveries at Edinburgh during his event entitled 'Taking Maths into the Mainstream'. Marjolaine Leray
Children's author and illustrator Leray will be accompanying us to the festival to talk about the translation of her book with her translator Sarah Ardizzone. Here at the Book Office we are big fans of her work, especially in the lead up to our South Ken Kids Festival...more information here!
Christophe Galfard
Renowed physicist Galfard heads up to Edinburgh to take audiences on a journey through the past, present and future. The talk entitled 'Broadening Out Science' aims to gives audiences a greater understanding of quantum mechanics via the use of storytelling. Tickets available here.

Oscar Coop-Phane
Brussels-based author Coop-Phane is a rising start of French literature who will particularly appeal to fans of Houellebecq. He will be participating in an event with the Irish writer Rob Doyle to talk about 'Coming of Age in Berlin and Dublin'. Find out more here.

Barroux
Writer and illustrator Barroux will be at Edinburgh to talk about his book 'On les aura!' based on the diary of a First World War Soldier. The event contains live drawing and performance as well as music from Julien Joubert to create a thoroughly war-time atmosphere. More info here.
Alain Mabanckou

Alain Mabanckou is francophone Africa’s best-loved writer. He is an award-winning novelist, poet and essayist published in 15 languages. His books include African Psycho, Broken Glass, Memoirs of a
Porcupine, Black Bazaar, and Tomorrow I’ll Be Twenty. He currently spends his time between Paris, Congo and Los Angeles, where he teaches literature at UCLA. His latest book Lumières de Pointe-Noire was translated in English and published by Serpentine in 2015.
