GEMMA BOVERY AT CINÉ LUMIÈRE

Fans of Flaubert, avid readers of Posy Simmonds, lovers of the Normandy countryside, Gemma Bovery is (finally) screening at the Institut français in London until 9 September. Don't miss your séance!

Here's what the Institut français has to say about the movie:

"This upbeat adaptation of Posy Simmonds’s delightful eponymous graphic novel features terrific performances from Fabrice Luchini and Gemma Arterton. Martin, an ex-Parisian “bobo”, has opted to re-settle in a Norman village as a baker. Passionate about the works of Gustave Flaubert, his excitement is palpable when an English couple named Gemma and Charles Bovery move into a small farm nearby."

Also, the last screening (9 Sept) will be followed by a Q&A session with writer and illustrator Posy Simmonds. Don't worry if you can't make it to the Institute though, here's a 2011 interview of Posy talking about Flaubert and her flau-less work:
