Children's Book of the Week

The Amazon forest has the richest diversity of plants and animals on the planet, but deforestation threats this biodiversity paradise. Barroux’s "Where’s the Elephant" demonstrates the devastating effects of deforestation, his beautiful illustrations paint an important message about climate change for young readers. Elephant, Parrot and Snake can no longer hide and seek as the trees of the forest have been cut down to make way for houses, road and cars.

Barroux has an instinctive passion for travel and exploring other cultures, it’s no surprise that he approaches each new book as if it’s the beginning of an adventure. He was born in Paris and spent much of his childhood in North Africa. After returning to France to study at art school, Barroux worked his way up to the position of art director before moving to the New York and Montréal where he found his niche in children’s illustration and press cartoons. Today, he is a renowned and very popular illustrator across France, the USA and Canada.
