French DJs are not dead!

In a society where the music industry is led by US culture, it’s time to be proud of our French productions and to show off our trendy nightlife French DJs. Indeed, French people are part of the most praised in electro house music (along with our Netherlands friends). The ‘DJ List’ has built a ranking of the top 50 DJs. Number one is a French person: the oh-so famous David Guetta. Our dear Daft Punk are also “Get(ting) Lucky” with more than 240m views on Youtube, and their help with the Tron soundtrack. Today I chose to introduce some of the French DJs.

You may know most of them, not necessarily the name, but the sound:

  • Klingande, a talented DJ creating joyful house music thanks to a creative use of the saxophone. If you want to be trendy say “kling-an-de” and listen to Jubel.

  • Madeon Maybe the most surprising one… because of his age. When his first EP was released in 2012 he was only 16. And now he’s a master of the clubbing world at the ripe age of 21.

  • DJ Snake, maybe one of the most famous DJs of this summer (thanks to his collaboration with major lazer for Lean On). If you wondering about the “snake” part, then here’s the answer: In his youth, DJ Snake produced graffiti art, earning him the moniker "Snake" because he was able to consistently evade the police. He grew up in the banlieue district outside Paris, which he describes as a ghetto. He cites French film La Haine, as well as hip-hop artists, as early influences.

  • Watermat is the French discovery of last summer and since he is considered to be a reference thanks to Frequency.

  • Miss Kittin one of the numerous talented women of the electronic world. Listem to Bassline! (I take the occasion to put the link on a very interesting article about the one & off topic exhibition which deals with the issue of women in the electronic world: http://bit.ly/1lOln66 )

  • Worakls, the new one! Not well known enough but I am sure it will be soon (ok you understand, it is my favourite one!), he is a French DJ who began playing music at the age of 3! Listen to his EP Salzburg.

So check out the future French talents!
