He's painted naked ladies, faked being a co-pilot and even lazed about on the beach being all good looking and that. But have we turned a blind eye to Total Eclipse? The god-awful film which I recently saw with Korean subtitles (don't ask).
DiCaprio plays a cheeky Rimbaud with an American accent and rustled Britpop hair. David Thewlis (a.k.a. Remus Lupin) plays a very creepy Paul Verlaine and sips absinthe/Teisseire Sirop Menthe like there's no tomorrow. If you wanted to have a quick dose of Rimbaud's revolutionary poetry and haunting historical context, then you've come to completely the wrong film.
Not only is it awkward, but it downplays Rimbaud literary talent.
