'Dog Will Have His Day' by Fred Vargas

Who would have thought? I have actually written two consecutive blogs for the 'Book of the Week' (but have utterly failed to start my dissertation, which may be the reason why I have a segment of spare time to write blogs more often than not...)

Anywho, this week we're tackling dog poo poo, pet toads, and The Evangelists. You simply cannot get more random (except perhaps if you're Keith Lemon).

This week's title is 'Dog Will Have his Day' and the person who wrote that title - as well as the novel- is Fred Vargas.

Who the Dickens is Fred Vargas?

Well, for those of you who haven't heard of French crime novels/Wikipedia/the Internet, then you need to do the following:

- Get yourself a Médiathèque membership card

- Put aside 108 hours (please note, all plans must be cancelled - even that Tinder date)

- Read the 28 Fred Vargas books in the library

- Continue with this blog...

So by now, you should be pretty well acquainted with the Fred Vargas sphere, but 108 hours too late for our fabulous competition. Sorry.

Unless you missed out step three, then step right this way,

I realise that I haven't answered the main question yet...Fred Vargas is a French writer who takes a liking to crime novels.

What is 'Dog Will Have his Day' about?

Luckily enough, you won't have to endure my ramblings [see question one], Colette from French Books UK has offered a succinct synopsis:

In this second volume of the Three Evangelists series, Fred Vargas once again masters the art of original crime fiction. Set in Paris, the plot is triggered by the discovery of a fragment of human bone by ex-special investigator Louis Kehlweiler… in dog stool. Laughed at by the police, he recruits two “evangelists” to help. But how will they manage to solve a murder without a body?

What shall I do if I can't be bothered to enter the competition?
