Interview with Karim Duval

I was delighted to meet with Karim Duval before his first amazing show in London. He opened the 6th edition of ‘the Arab Are Not Funny!’ event. And it was a success!

Do you know Karim Duval?

If not imagine a Franco-Sino-Morocco guy making you laugh. No no, it’s not a joke! From a Chinese mother and a Franco-Berber father, Karim chose to quit his engineer career to be an humorist. Risky choice… But he’s doing well! He used to say “j’aime ce métier parce qu’on passe par le meilleur comme par le pire” (I love this job because we live through the best and worst). From a full house at the Olympia, and I let you imagine the worst… Or you could listen to the podcast! > HERE

Let’s get back to the plot. Led by what he calls “une émulation dingue dans le milieu de l’humour” this upcoming artist, full of projects, decided to start in London with a show completely in English. And without any French accent (Yes I’m jealous I definitely cannot lose mine...). His show called ‘Melting Pot’ reflects well with his multiple origins and the ideas he wants to fight for. Even if Karim doesn’t consider himself as a “politically engaged artist” he chose to expose in his show his sensitivity to controversial subjects like racism.

Here some of his productions:
