Isabelle Huppert takes on London!


To celebrate the fact that superstar French actress Isabelle Huppert will be gracing the Institut francais with her presence this week, we thought we’d give you an insight into her career and some little known facts about her.

Huppert is one of France’s most famous names and came to fame in the 1970s for The Lacemaker. She has won and been nominated for all kinds of awards for roles both in English and French language films.

Huppert is coming to London to perform in Phaedra, directed by Krzysztof Warlikowski, Artistic Director of Warsaw’s Nowy Theatre. The play opened last night at the Barbican (10th of June) until the 18th of June. You can find out more about the production here.

Huppert will also be coming to the Institut francais to present her new film Valley of Love in which she appears with Gérard Depardieu. You can take a sneaky peek at the trailer here:

She’ll also be participating in a discussion with British director Stephen Frears on the 11th of June.

Huppert has been doing the rounds and was at Cannes last month to promote her new film Elle, a hard-hitting thriller guranteed to give you the chills. See what you think!
