Festival Beyond Words - Save the date!

Beyond Words, the Institut français's Live French Literature Festival, is back! Fill your diaries with bilingual events between May 14th and 21st. Writers' talks, musical performances, shared reading experiences, book launches, screenings of recent literary adaptations, translators' pitches... Whether you're an enthusiastic reader, a student, a teacher, or just a curious mind, you might want to get your diary out, and take down a few of our highlights:

  • Monday 14 May - MAY 68: talks by the great French historian and publisher Eric Hazan, as well as Mitchell Abidor, Paul Mason, Lauren Elkin

  • Tuesday 15 May - GRAPHIC NOVELS: Star Graphic novelist Penelope Bagieu will be meeting Mary and Bryan Talbot for a live drawing session all about rebel women who rocked the world

  • Tuesday 15 May - EUROPEAN LITERATURE IN TRANSLATION: Goncourt-Prize winner Laurent Gaudé, Claire-Louise Bennett, Esther Kinsky, Eric Chevillard, Daniel Medin take part

  • Wednesday 16 May - NEW FRENCH VOICES: special evening of readings and tributes to the great POL

  • Thursday 17 May - NEW FRENCH REALISM: Noemi Lefebvre and other Verticales writers

  • Friday 18 May - an exceptional appearance by star writer Leila Slimani

  • Friday 18 May - an exceptional Proustian performance "Proust in one hour" with Veronique Aubouy

The website will go live after the Easter break here (although for the moment it is still in 2017) and so will bookings!
