The EY exhibition Picasso 1932 – Love, Fame, Tragedy at the Tate Museum
This summer, do not miss the wonderful exhibition on the works of Pablo Picasso which showcases until 9 September 2018 and is the first time that his works are displayed at the Tate Museum.
The exhibition provides the chance to discover or rediscover hundreds of paintings, sculptures, and rare pieces, which give us a sharper insight into his work and who he was. This exhibition is a window on the man and the artist he was.
The mysteries that surround his life are stripped away and elucidated for the great pleasure and curiosity of the visitors. A rich, complete and complex artist.
Woman with a chair on a pink background, Pablo Picasso On this painting from 1955, Pablo Picasso painted Jacqueline Roque, his last wife.
As we know, Picasso's art reveals many of his relationships (link) with women who have lived with him throughout his life. In the 1920's, his first wife, the Russian Olga, pushed him, after a cubist period, to reconnect with classicism.
His extramarital affair with young Marie-Thérèse Walter, nearly twenty-eight years his junior, lead him to produce a cruel representation of the couple through a series of violent kisses and mouths with sharp teeth. The portraits of Dora Maar, with whom he began a relationship in 1936, are vibrant with colors.
This exhibition helps us to get a more concrete idea of Picasso's aesthetic conceptions, and to reveal his decapitant thoughts, his paradoxes and his ironies.
Pablo Picasso used to say "Everything you can imagine is real." To coincide with this exhibition, we too invite you to allow your imagination to roam; and what better way to get into Picasso's shoes than by listening to the brilliant soundtrack for the series “Genius” about the life and work of Picasso. https://www.culturetheque.com
"Genius" is an American anthology television series developed by Noah Pink and Kenneth Biller that premiered on April 25, 2017 as part of National Geographic. The first season follows the life of Albert Einstein and the second season follows two periods in the life of Pablo Picasso: the first as a young man discovering his talent, the second part as an already famous artist fighting against the rise of fascism in Spain.
