Literature & SAFAR Film Festival
A vibrant celebration of Arab Cinema, the biennial SAFAR Film Festival returns to London this autumn for its fourth edition from Saturday 15 September until Tuesday 18 September!
SAFAR Film Festival is presented by The Arab British Centre, in partnership with the Institut français du Royaume-Uni and the Institute of Contemporary Arts.
Filmmakers and authors from Palestine, Egypt and Morocco will be present for some special Q&As.
Q&A with Palestinian filmmaker Annemarie Jacir for her movie Wajib on 15 September at 8.30pm
Annemarie Jacir was born in 1974 in Bethlehem, Palestine. Poet and director, she is known for her movies Salt of this Sea (2008), When I Saw You (2012) and Like Twenty Impossibles (2003).
Q&A with Egyptian author Ahdaf Soueif following The Land (dir. Youssef Chahine) screening on 18 September at 8.20pm.
Adhaf Soueif was born in Cairo and educated in Egypt and England, where she studied at the University of Lancaster.
Q&A with Moroccan author Mahi Binebine and festival curator Joseph Fahim following Horses of God (dir. Nabil Ayouch) screening on 17 September at 8.30pm.
Mahi Binebine was born in Marrakech in 1959. He is a well-known painter and novelist. Joseph Fahim is an Egyptian film critic and programmer, he co-authored various books on Arab cinema and has contributed to many publications in the Middle East.
