Travel through mirrors with Christelle Dabos, French Young Adult author & SKKF guest!

Christelle Dabos was born in Cannes on the Côte d’Azur and now lives in Belgium. Raised in a home full of classical music and historical enigmas, she has always been interested in writing stories, which she started during her studies.

With the support of her family and a growing community of readers, she decided to give the Gallimard Jeunesse-RTL-Télérama First Novel Competition a try with the first book of her series The Mirror Visitor, which she won. Since then, the novel series has attracted numerous readers around the world, including translations in Spanish, Italian, Hungarian, Russian and Turkish! Christelle Dabos is now writing the 4th book.

In the United Kingdom, she just published The Mirror Visitor: A Winter's Promise, the 1st book of the quartet, with Europa Editions. It was translated into English by Hildegarde Serle. The book is also out in the USA this month!

So let's tell you a little bit more about that must-read bestseller series!

The Mirror Visitor takes place in a world divided in 'arks', where Ophelia, a teenage girl is gifted by the talent of reading the pasts of objects and the ability to travel through mirrors.

When Ophelia is promised in marriage to Thorn, a member of a powerful clan from a distant ark, she must follow her fiancé to the towering city of Citaceleste, where nobody can be trusted. Ophelia will slowly realize she is a pawn in a scary political game. If you love fantastical stories full of suspense, A Winter’s Promise is for you.

On the occasion of A Winter's Promise release in English, Lise Chancel, a student in film animation, created a beautiful teaser video that we highly recommend you watch here.

We are thrilled to welcome her to the festival this year, where she will join Victor Dixen and Philip Reeve, authors of Phobos and Mortal Engines YA Sci-Fi series, for a Young Adult Special event. It is an absolute unmissable event if you like Young Adult fantasy & science-fiction!
